Getting Inside
If you arrive after dark, there is a light switch at the top of the stairs on the post to light up the stairs and back door area. Please reference your eRentalLock access code email for your personalized access code. This code will be sent to you a few days before your stay.
Check In/Check Out
Check in time is at 12 pm unless otherwise specified. Check out time is at 12 pm. If you would like some flexibility please inquire about when the next guest is leaving or coming so that we can accommodate you if at all possible. In the event that a guest is scheduled back-to-back with your reservation, we need the full time to clean.
Before you head out please:
- Take all of the garbage and recycling up to the dumpster
- Place all used linens & towels near the laundry closet
- Start the laundry, especially the towels
- Place all dirty dishes in dishwasher and start it
- Double check that you have remembered all of your belongings and don’t have any of ours.
This list is also posted in the house. Thank you so much for helping out our cleaning staff.
About the Driveway & Parking
The driveway is very steep. Please use low gear at 10 to 20 miles per hour when going up the driveway. Please use the straight-shot driveway that goes directly up the hill, as the other road is not ours.
There is space to park 3 cars. The rest of the parking area is association property and not ours. It is usually okay to park more cars for one evening (e.g. for an event or party) but please do not plan on parking more cars for your entire stay.
About Using the Sofa for Sleeping
The sofa in the living room is a Sactional brand couch. It can be reconfigured to sleep two easily. Simply take the movable base (furthest left in image 1) and move it as shown in image 2, and remove the pillows.
There are two single mattress covers as well as two sets of single sheets, and pillows to make up the beds. They are located in the unlocked closet in the first floor bathroom (across from the toilet).
About Nature
The house is in the woods on a lake. Please be advised that while we do our best to maintain the cleanest facilities possible, spiders build webs rapidly, birds poop prolifically (especially in the early summer when they are nesting), and racoons try to eat out of the garbage cans. Even the most thorough cleaning can be quickly undone, therefore we cannot guarantee the cleanliness of the outside of the house, the dock or the inside or outside of the boat house, though we do clean them regularly.
Additionally, we cannot power wash anything before June because the wood will mildew, nor can we power wash between every guest because it will damage the wood if washed too frequently.
To keep bugs and spiders to a minimum inside the house, be conscious of open doors, especially at dusk.
If you have concerns about the cleanliness of the house or property, please contact us immediately.
Pets
Pets are welcome and there is no extra fee for bringing them along. All we ask is that they’re cleaned up after.
About Coffee & Grilling
There is a Keurig in the main house and a small 4 cup standard coffee maker in the beach house.
We also have a charcoal grill on the porch behind the kitchen. Please note the grill is self-service (our cleaning staff does not maintain it) so please leave it in excellent condition for the next guest.
About the Refrigerator & Other Supplies
For your convenience we leave condiments and unopened packages of food that are in good condition in the refrigerator and freezer for your use. You may want to check what is already at the house before going shopping. For a nearby grocery store we recommend the Shur-Save in Trumansburg (about 5 minutes away). For a more gourmet shopping experience, there is a Wegmans in Ithaca (about a 25 minute drive).
Additionally we do have dish detergent, dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and laundry detergent on hand. We cannot guarantee we will have enough for your entire stay, but you will have enough to get started. There may be other items left by previous renters that we leave in case you’re able to make use of them (such as shampoo) but are not necessarily items we keep stocked.
About the Kayaks and Splash Island
We have a single and double kayak along with paddles that are available for your use. We also have a large assortment of life jackets in the boat house. Please be sure to pull the boats all the way to the tree and store them bottom side up so that they don’t collect rain water.
Splash Island is available seasonally, provided that it has been treated well. Please be sure to be gentle so the next renters can enjoy!
Liquid Air Conditioning
The house is not air conditioned, but the breeze off the lake at night cools the house down nicely. We have fans in each bedroom and the living room/dining room area.
Flying Chairs
You’re welcome to use chairs in the boat house and beach house. If you leave them on the dock without a person sitting in them, they will find themselves in the water due to wind. If you could kindly put them away when not in use that would be much appreciated. Due to disappearing chairs our stash has dwindled. You may want to bring along a few beach chairs for your own use.
Plumbing
The house is on septic which means that absolutely nothing besides human waste and toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet. Similarly there is not a garbage disposal. Kindly note that septic systems react unkindly to sanitary products and can be costly to rectify.
Other Details
The phone number for the house is 607-387-4161. The wi-fi password is 8E85937015. It is also in the welcome book.
There will be a welcome book with information regarding the house and a key to the beach house and boat house on the dining room table.
There is a deck railing to make it safer for the little ones. However, if you have children staying with you, please watch them carefully and do not allow them to climb on the cables. This stretches out the cables and makes it less safe for others.
We’d love to see your photos!
